April Update

April Update

Although these Fellows are about to graduate, we want to show you all what we were up to this past month. The Spring has a way of being packed full and also, flying by too quick. We have much to celebrate!

Round Table

As the weather has started to warm up, we've been able to eat outside quite a bit and we are loving it! Our gracious hosts this month were: David + Shannon Rainey, Peter + Cyndy Barnes, Nancy + Rich Keshian, and Deanne + Jeff Trollinger.

The Rainey's back porch is one of the Fellow's favorite spots to be!

Peter joined Ned leading us in worship.

Miracle Heights Adventure

One of the many perks of living on the Crossnore campus is we are just a short walk to their Miracle Heights Adventure Course. They are open to the public so be sure to check out them out!

Eggstravaganza!

Although Covid has prevented us from doing more events with our neighbors here at Crossnore, we were excited to get back together for fun and games. Even though we planned this event for the children, I think we had just as much fun.

It was a windy day for egg dying but we made it work!

Can you see the smashed egg running down? Lots of smashed eggs for the Fellows!

Our artist, Elisabeth, taking egg dying to the next level!

Egg relay!

More egg smashing!

Krishauna, we appreciate your partnership and all you do to serve the children here!

Easter

During this weekend of celebration, the Fellows found many ways to celebrate!

Louise's mom, Jen, came to town and they had some special time with Sarah and her mom, Laura.

The Fellows always love celebrating with good food!

The Snow family hosted an adult Easter egg hunt!

Three Lukes!

The Ericksons and Wittenbergs are long-time family friends!

Louise's brother, Luke, enjoyed time at the Fellows house.

Sunrise service

Easter lunch at the Turner's with current Fellows and Alumni!

Easter bash at Owen's!

Leader Lunch

We had another month with an all-star lineup. We had the honor of being with Gary Gunderson, Jay Helvey, Stephen Edwards + Beau Burns, and Keith Vest.

Since we met Gary at the Bailey Power Plant several of us decided to grab coffee on this beautiful Spring day!

David Barksdale also joined us for Jay's lunch. So fun!

Classes

This month, we wrapped up communication skills with Frank McNair.  We've also had Nigel Alston lead us is Dale Carnegie Leadership classes. Jeff Trollinger was with us for a couple weeks discussing Finances 101, and Steve Angle joined us for our last two classes of the year!

Team work

Celebrations

We had so much to celebrate this past month: birthdays, awards, new jobs, and proposal!!

Happy Birthday Ismael!

Sarah's birthday is this summer, but we surprised her with an early celebration.

Look at that cake!

Sarah was awarded a "Tripp's Hero" award for the kindness she exudes every day. We cannot think of anymore more fitting for this award. And, how special this is to her as Tripp was one of her heroes.

They are engaged!!! Caroline Wolfe and Garrett Briggs are engaged and we are over the moon excited for them! Garrett was a Fellow several years ago and Caroline was a Fellow last year.

This is a picture I took awhile ago at a birthday celebration for Caroline. You can't see her in this picture but as Ned is giving the toast, look at how Garrett looks at her! The sweetest!

Caleb will be joining the Baird team this summer!

Sydney will be furthering her dream of working in the hospitality industry as she starts her new job at Riverbirch this summer!

Put me in, Coach!

Wil has been working at FCDS this year (and will continue to next year).  One of his favorite parts of the job has been the opportunity to coach Lacrosse. Go Furies!

Sorry Coach, my girls were more interested in playing with their Fellow friends than watching the game.

National Conference

For the first time since 2019, the Fellows were able to gather in Washington DC for the national Fellows conference hosted by The Fellows Initiative. During this time, all Fellows programs from across the country gather together.

Roadtrip!

Mallory and Miranda connected in DC a little early to do some exploring.

Not a bad stop for a morning run.

Sydney's parents hosted the Fellows for lunch on their way back!

A new way of reading, I guess?

Out and About

The Fellows have been trying to soak up their last few weeks together by enjoying some of their favorite spots around town.

Caroline and Louise ran a half marathon together!

Best burger in town?

Celebrating Jen Sanders birthday!

Feeding the llamas in a unique way.

June 2025

June brought a change of pace as our formal Fellows programming came to a close. But that hasn’t stopped the Fellows from enjoying some summer fun! They've been transitioning into fuller work schedules, searching for housing for the year ahead, and even managed to sneak away for a beach trip. Recruitment Above is a photo of the Madisons from this past year. One fun fact about Madison Avery (left) is that she joined the Fellows program just two weeks before it started—right in the middle of her sister’s wedding celebrations! Even with such a quick turnaround, Madison jumped in wholeheartedly and has had a truly transformative year. She fully embraced the experience and is now stepping into a full-time role with her Fellows employer. We’re still filling spots for our 2025–2026 class. So, if you know a recent grad or young adult who’s still figuring out their next step, send them our way —Madison is proof that great things can start even at the last minute. Oklahoma! We have a star...

May 2025

May 2025  Above, you'll see how it started versus how it ended. May has been a bittersweet month as we officially wrapped up the ninth class of Winston-Salem Fellows. What a year it has been—full of growth, laughter, challenges, and transformation. Truly, an incredible year worth celebrating! World Relief Race Earlier this spring, the Fellows were deeply impacted by our time with Jon Musser as we learned about the incredible work World Relief is doing here in the Triad. So when they heard that River Oaks Community Church was hosting a 5K to benefit World Relief, they were all in. And apparently, they brought their A-game—Steve and Ellie both placed in their divisions! Leader Lunches Our final two Leader Lunches were spent with two remarkable individuals. First, we heard from Charlie Barham of Cassia Capital, followed by a meaningful conversation with Amy Carlan, Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian. Classes We wrapped up the year with two of our longest classes. First, Gospel-Cen...

April 2025

April 2025 Update It's our last full month with the Fellows from the class of 2024-2025, and it was a full one! We celebrated as several Fellows received job offers to stay in Winston Salem. A couple are still looking, but we are crossing our fingers that all nine will remain here next year.  Bryn and Dean Got Married! Well, they actually tied the knot back in February but we forgot to mention them in the last update! Bryn and Dean actually met walking down the aisle together for AJ and Bailey's wedding a few years ago. Fortunately for us, they are still in Winston Salem. We had a wonderful time celebrating them and enjoying a reunion of sorts with folks from several Fellows classes.  Ecuador Video! The very talented Jed put together a short video to capture part of our time in Ecuador. We couldn't possibly show everything, but please check it out!   Leader Lunches We had another stellar lineup this month! A fun fact: every speaker was either a current or former employers...
